For Stan and James, the festive season is really all about the gambling. All this is explained in their new video which will surely never, ever, be the Christmas number one – so fear not. The boys really do manage to take Christmas cheesiness to a new high with an awful song that, once heard, you will never get out of your head.
It explains, at length, why the lads prefer Boxing Day to its predecessor and a few of their mates come round to celebrate the gambling opportunities as the day progresses and descends into chaos.
The pair wake up on Boxing Day morning. Their flat is in a bit of a state; presents everywhere including a dartboard (and who doesn’t need a new one of those every Christmas?). Then the lads quickly break into a bright and cheery festive song with “Christmas Day is nice, but it can be boring. Boxing Day, that’s my kind of day, when there’s teams on the TV scoring”. And that rather sets the scene for the day in the new StanJames Christmas music video.
The pair go on to sing about the different betting opportunities on the day with lyrics like; “Half time, full time, both teams to score, free kicks, corners, five cards or more…” as well as “There’ll be real high drama and Christmas cheer, it’s a packed schedule at the end of the year … squads are depleted, running thin, the transfer window is closing in and you can even bet on cricket, golf or rugby too.”
Of course, they’re completely right. But it’s usually the kind of thing that remains tacit. Now, Stan and James have really let the cat out of the bag. But there’s no need to worry as surely no sane and rational female person will ever listen to the song or watch the video?
