Andros Townsend broke the deadlock on Thursday evening against the Georgian champions just 12 minutes into the game, much to the delight of the pundits doing the live football commentary. A second followed just before the break, when Townsend turned provider for Paulinho. It was the Brazilian’s first competitive goal since the switch to England from his native Brazil.
Soldado continued his good start to his Tottenham career with two second half goal. The Spaniard scored 30 goals for Valencia last season and has been signed by the Spurs boss Andre Villas Boas to boost their attacking options. Following the game, the speculation about Gareth Bale’s future continued as the Welshman was not a part of the squad on the evening.
