Everton Come Back To Haunt Moyes

Everton picked up their first win at Old Trafford since 1992 in a 1-0 victory over Manchester United last night.

It was the first time former Toffees manager David Moyes had come up against the Merseyside club in his new role, however, it did not end the way the Scot would have wanted as United dropped down to ninth place, 12 points behind leaders Arsenal. The match had proven popular with fans who bet on football in recent days.

Bryan Oviedo’s goal four minutes from time was enough to give the visitors all three points in an entertaining game.

The reds boss was unable to call up on the services of striker Robin van Persie back to the side as he had not recovered from his groin injury in time.

The hosts did have good chances to break the deadlock in the opening half of the match. Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck both went close as they hit the woodwork, while Toffees’ keeper Tim Howard was in good form as he returned to his former club, denying Rooney and Shinji Kagawa opportunities.

Everton’s new star teenager Gerard Deulofeu came off the bench in the second half and almost made an immediate impact but his shot was hit straight at United ‘keeper, David De Gea.

The away side did still get their reward though, for being positive and playing the game in an attacking manner when defender Oviedo made no mistake of Romelu Lukaku’s cross at the far post with just four minutes of normal time left on the clock.

Following the defeat, United are now out to 20/1 to retain their title with the bet365 Premier League betting. They could now have a battle on to ensure they play Champions League football once again next season. A top four finish for Moyes’ men is available at 10/11.
