Tottenham Hotspur star Gareth Bale continues to be linked with a move away from the north London outfit this summer but team-mate Michael Dawson believes the Welshman will stay at White Hart Lane.
Both Real Madrid and Manchester United have been strongly linked with a move for the former Southampton youngster, who enjoyed an outstanding season in the Premier League last term. Indeed plenty of punters who bet on football have put money on Bale making the move to Spain.
A price-tag in the region of £80m has been slapped on Bale’s services, which has ruled out a host of teams who would be interested in signing the 24-year-old.
Although the stories of potential bids for Bale still fill the newspapers, Dawson believes that the Spurs star will still be banging in the goals for the Lilywhites long after the summer transfer deadline passes, regardless of what the premier league betting says.
The England international told Sky Sports News: “Gaz is a Tottenham player and the manager has come out and said he’s staying, and that’s great news.
“To do what Gaz did last year was sensational, with some of the goals he scored and the points he won for us. He helped us to get to 72 points and I’m sure he’ll be doing that again next year.”
Spurs once again just missed out on securing Champions League football last season and they will need Bale at White Hart Lane if they are to bring top tier European matches to north London after next season.
With Tottenham already bringing Paulinho to the club and Nacer Chadli set to join, manager Andre Villas-Boas is certainly building a strong squad for the next campaign but Bale is the key to making them a top four finishing side.
